Sarah is a freelance director working in theatre and opera across a range of genres and forms. Based in Dublin, her productions have toured throughout Ireland, the UK and to Edinburgh and Adelaide Festivals. Her productions have engaging stories, striking imagery and truthful performances that resonate with audiences.

Sarah has worked with numerous leading arts organisations such as Druid Theatre, Irish National Opera, Landmark Productions, Gate Theatre, Abbey Theatre, Wexford Festival Opera and B*spoke Theatre.

Sarah trained in LeCoq based practice under Thomas Prattki at London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA). There she learnt the craft and skills of devising and physical theatre. Emphasis was placed on ambitious creativity and collaboration matched with rigour and discipline. These skills are embedded into Sarah’s work.

In theatre, Sarah has extensive experience directing new writing which is ingrained with a dramaturgical process of support. Sarah frequently works with a writer from first draft right through to production. Recent productions include The Making of Mollie (The Ark) and These Stupid Things (White Label). Sarah also works on pre existing text most notably through her work with Druid Theatre. Sarah received Druid Theatre’s Marie Mullen Bursary in 2020 and has continued working with the company since then, most recently as Associate Director on Tom Murphy’s The House and DruidO’Casey.

In opera, Sarah was the inaugural director member of Irish National Opera’s Theatre Artist Studio 2018-2020. Throughout the two year programme, Sarah gained invaluable experience working on major opera productions with leading artists, as well as masterclasses and language classes. Sarah also co-created and directed an outreach project, The Deadly World of Opera during this time. Since 2020 Sarah has continued to work with Irish National Opera including being revival director for Carmen in 2022. She has also worked at Wexford Festival Opera, and in 2023 she directed Macbeth for Blackwater Valley Opera.

Sarah has received multiple awards and residences including : Centre Culturel Irlandais / Abbey Theatre residency 2024, Irish National Opera Artist Studio 2018-2020, Druid Theatre’s Marie Mullen Bursary 2020-2021, Gap Day residency 2021, Pavilion Theatre residency 2024 and Push+ EU Lab 2019 and residency 2020. She has received several funding awards from Arts Council Ireland, Kildare Arts Office and Dublin City Council. She was a participant on Performing Arts Forum /Dublin Theatre Festival Next Stage artist development programme 2012 and Directors' Symposium at the Gate Theatre 2014.
